Tongue And Lip Tie

Infant and child lip and tongue tie release

Here at Firefly, we offer infant/child lip and tongue tie release using the Lightscapel CO2 laser. Having a lip or tongue tie can affect children of all ages. From birth, infants can have a variety of symptoms. Some of which include: difficulty nursing, latching, weight gain, excessive gas and constipation. As they get older, other symptoms may develop. These could include: speech issues, constipation, tummy issues, tooth eruption patterns, feeding problems and ability to adequately brush the area. A frenectomy, the procedure done to release the tongue and/or lip tie, is a quick and gentle procedure and in most cases, requires no sutures. It can be performed on infants as young as a week old. With the use of a CO2 laser, there is less bleeding, swelling and post-op discomfort. It also reduces the risk of infections and results in smoother recoveries.
